I once wrote something about myself, but it
started a riot in my hometown. So I chose to do
something different.
Choices. They're really cool huh? Yup. Choices,
they sure rock. Choices are one of the few
occurrences which befall us every single day of
our lives. Cool, for some. You can choose to do
something as simple as getting out of bed in the
morning, or afternoon, whatever that's cool with
you. But a simple choice like getting out of bed
can lead to many things, most times the washroom.
However, choices are very relevant in our lives,
people often forget this.
You can wake up in the morning and choose to do
something you enjoy, driving perhaps. I love
driving, that's why I said it. But there are also
choices you need to make which pretty much suck.
Like going to the doctor or dentist. With each
choice we make, there's always a result.
There is a saying in Physics (it's probably a Law,
I wouldn't know, I barely passed Physics in high
school) that reads "with every action, there is an
equal and opposite reaction." I don't know if
there is a way to say it in simpler terms.
Everything you do has a result. Guess I just said
it. This simple yet immensely important saying can
dictate whether you live your life consciously,
understanding that you leave a footprint wherever
you travel, or like an animal, a zoo creature, a
raccoon which knows nothing but foraging through
garbage, feeding its simplest desires.
Allaah subhanahu wa ta'ala says in surah-al-Hadid,
"Know that the life of this world is only play and
amusement, pomp and mutual boasting among you, and
rivalry in respect of wealth and children, as the
likeness of vegetation after rain, thereof the
growth is pleasing to the tiller; afterwards it
dries up and you see it turning yellow; then it
becomes straw. But in the Hereafter (there is) a
severe torment (for the disbelievers, evil-doers),
and (there is) Forgiveness from Allāh and (His)
Good Pleasure (for the believers, good-doers),
whereas the life of this world is only a deceiving
enjoyment." (Al-Hadid 57:20) The choice of living
this life only to fulfill your simplest desires
will have its result. The same can be said about
choosing to live a truthful, God-fearing life
comprised of Ihsaan, Imaan, and Taqwa.
We all make mistakes. The choice to correct them
is what separates us.
