90% of the time it doesn't work. I'll tell you what i saw when i was in Mugadisho 2006, you know when da islamic courts had power many lost youths were sent there to straighten up, i saw some of them that were brought from minnisota and the U.K( and no i wasn't there for dhaqan celis lol) but they were smokin pot, doing da same things as they were doing before if not worse. Because in Somalia there is no law and order so anything goes.but there are situations where they come back changed but thats very rare.

the one thing i see changed is kids who had no ability to speak af soomaali, much less comprehend it come back speaking like some odayaal

thats the most common, even people who stay 1-2 months are speaking "hebel ama hebel" type ish

in terms of behavior i seen a mixed bag....it depends on who they hang with. some kids become wadaads or dhaqan oriented, others come back as criminals and in the big house

^^^ Lool@ sent back home for skipping school... My God.. Waxaas waa minor...

Ummm I had a close friend who was sent back home.. Actually her whole family was shipped.. They were missing in action for about 4/5 years and they come back better than they were before.. But after a couple of months upon returning, they were back to their old ways...

I guess in some instances it can work, while in other situations things might even escalate

Of course not. Do prisoners get rehabilitated in prison? NOPE! So sending a wild kid to a completely lawless land with more guns then shoes will not do the trick.

They should just take these kids to a Buddhist temples for like a month.

Bismillahi wa salaatu wa salaamu 3alaa rasoolillah

As-Salaamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu

I hope you and your families are well in Imaan and health, Insha'Allah.

Good topic masha'Allah. In my view, it starts with the 2 people who get married and then have kids. Were they close to Allah(Swt)? Did they get married to please Allah(Swt)? Was their intention to raise not just a family, but a righteous family? I can go on and on. The question that should give you where i am coming from is, if you take care of the seed of a future tree, will it grow good? Or bad? The fitrah of the child is like a pure seed that needs nourishment until they reach manhood/womenhood. Then, they will use Islam to nourish their fitrah so they die as good righteous and pure Muslim.

Dear brothers and sisters because you are all the future of Somalia and Islam, please plan your life. Have intentions that you will practice your deen and raise a righteous children. Allah(Swt) gives to those who ask. A person who does not ask the riches king, let alone never remembers Him and His countless favs, why she He give you rigtheous children? You get what you work for, aint that life!

And do not get me wrong, there are some cases where the parents are righteous but the some of the kids go wild. We can say this is a test for these kids to take lessons from and to share it with others. Every soul must have a room for a test.

N e ways, if we wish to be successful and have a righteous family, lets just follow this simple ayat:

Allah(Swt) said:

Quote:

35. O you who believe! Do your duty to Allâh and fear Him. Seek the means of approach to Him, and strive hard in His Cause as much as you can. So that you may be successful.

5:35
To have a good tree that will provide a good shade from the heat of the sun, it takes a good person(s) to take care of its seed from day one!

May Allah(Swt) give you all good families and righteous children. Amiin. But you gota do ur part! Increase your imaan and knowledge.

Your brother in Islam.

wa alaykumu salaam wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu
