Picture of the Year
The leader of Al-Shabaab and the pioneer of the reformation of the Somali people - Muktaar Roobow, leading a group of followers, participants, and observers in a discussion on the organization's future and the country's direction.
Al-Shabaab is the future. Bigger than the SYL, bigger than anything that has ever impacted Somalia. Even bigger than the Sayyid.
Smile, people, Somalia will be great again, in fact, it could be the seat of the new Caliph if Al-Shabaab continues taking out the trash and handling business as usual.

Yes we can.
Every retard complains, "oh, they're just using Islam to reach an agenda."
Well, I ask them - what's the agenda?
They claim that Al-Shabaab has a clan agenda.
How can this be when Al-Shabaab's leader comes from one of the most disenfranchised Somali clans? And almost his entire organization is made up of larger and more "prestigious/noble" clans. If Al-Shabaab's members had any agenda, they'd kill their weak little "minority" leader. Abu Mansuur doesn't have any money, his followers are from every clan so there's no treat in it for them. They are fed, young, satisfied, and loyal...and above all, they trust Abu Mansuur and his directions - which is the reason they stay loyal to the great man. This is a good start, correct. And the thing is - compare it to the qashin that is trying to rule Somalia (warlords, etc.) - are there even options?
Point being, its Al-Shabaab or nothing for Somalia. There is no choice. And if there was, anyone with a peon of intelligence would point to Al-Shabaab as the source of hope for Somalia. Even the US State Dep't recognized the talent of Al-Shabaab when it came to statesmanship.
God bless them a thousand times and I hope they receive a great reward for their public services to Somalia.

Somalis have clans, fact. If two Somalis from different clans fight, everyone jumps to the clan gun, its a predictable reaction.
It had to do with the fact that the present group of warlords sitting in Kismayo and draining the local economy as well as pissing on its stability - HAD TO GO. It took the entire city - from EVERY clan, including the clan of the city's most violent warlord - to turn things around.
Al-Shabaab is an umbrella organization for Somalia's version of Neighborhood Watch. Every neighborhood has its own surveillance group and Kismayo has been a particularly troubled area for the past 2 decades. This seems to be the single largest and most unified upheaval of warlords in Kismayo since the civil war.
And in the words of Abu Mansuur, "The people of Kismayo have been through a lot. Its over now and they can rest at last. We won't tell them how to run things, its up to them to decide." Shabaab only gave support to Kismayo's neighborhood watch group and is putting no pressure on them. But Shabaab will make sure that the qashin don't regroup and start the cycle in Kismayo again.
Kismayo is no different than what happened in Beletweyn or Jowhar or Mogadishu. The locals simply took out the trash with the blessings of Shabaab or a like-minded organization.
