Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever throws himself down from a mountain and kills himself will be in the Fire of Hell, throwing himself down therein for ever and ever. Whoever takes poison and kills himself, his poison will be in his hand and he will be sipping it in the Fire of Hell for ever and ever. Whoever kills himself with a piece of iron, that piece of iron will be in his hand and he will be stabbing himself in the stomach with it in the Fire of Hell, for ever and ever.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 5442; Muslim, 109.

It was narrated that Jaabir ibn Samurah (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: A man who had killed himself with a broad arrow-head was brought to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and he did not offer the funeral prayer for him. Narrated by Muslim, 978.

This does not mean that you should not pray for mercy and forgiveness for him, rather you must do that because she needs that. Suicide is not kufr that puts a person beyond the pale of Islam as some people think, rather it is a major sin that is subject to the will of Allaah on the Day of Resurrection: if He wills, He will forgive it, and if He wills He will punish for it. So do not neglect to make du’aa’ for him and be sincere in doing so; perhaps that may be the means of Allaah forgiving him.

Suicide in Islaam

Question:

What is the ruling regarding suicide in Islaam?

Answer:

Suicide is when a person kills himself intentionally by whatever means. This is haraam and regarded as amongst the major sins, and likewise included in the general statement of Allaah (Subhaanahu wa Ta'aala):
{And whoever kills a believer intentionally, his recompense is Hell to abide therein, and the Wrath and the Curse of Allaah are upon him, and a great punishment is prepared for him}, [Soorah an-Nisaa, Aayah 93].

And it is established from the Sunnah on the authority of the Prophet (sal-Allaahu `alayhe wa sallam) who said:

"Indeed, whoever (intentionally) kills himself, then certainly he will be punished in the Fire of Hell, wherein he shall dwell forever", [Bukhaaree (5778) and Muslim (109 and 110)].

In reality, the one who commits suicide, generally does so because of his desperate situation, either as a direct result of an act of Allaah or a human being. So you find him unable to cope with that which has afflicted him, and in actual fact he is like one who is calling for help from the scorching heat of the fire. So he has progressed from that which was tough (bad) to that which is worse. And if he was patient, then Allaah would have assisted him in dealing with the difficulty.

YAH..its sad indeed..yet speculations floating around talking about how he did a video and wrote a note..allahu caclam on dat..but yah it was said that the guy was going through a lot in his life. Moreover, financial difficulties is what I'm hearing. I dunno, but majority are saying he kept on suggesting he was going to kill himself for some time. So before he hung himself, he called his dumashiis/ in laws and wife to tell them good bye. That's wen his wife speed to get to him, just to see couple seconds before his life ended.

It's true that only Allah can judge him folks, but from our knowledge of hadith and practices of the Shariah, suicide is something we accept as immoral behaivor and not tolerated at all, moreover have been told repeatedly that the individual is facing sometime in the hell fire. That's a fact, because it's been written for us to comprehend in our minds. But at the end, none can argue the fact the "we should leave this into the Hands of Allah SWT"

When someone is going through a suicide thoughts, they don't think about hell or heaven. Something you guys should know.

Everything is just painful to them and they want to escape to a better world or nothing at all. It's troubling but people will do it. You might say how can you do that?, think about your kids, wife and the hell fire. But Nothing will stop them as their mind is already done with living.

The only help you can do for someone who is going through a suicidal thoughts, don't tell them if you kill yourself, you will end up in hell......that will make the whole thing much worst. But rather, show them the key on how they can get back into their feet. whether it's financial help or by being simple there for them, you are showing them that there is help.

Also I see some are using the book and hadith to back up their "He will end up in hell" talk but in reality.........you don't know if he will end up in hell as Allah swt is the most merciful. Salam Alykum

Allaho yaclam; we both don't know if he will end up in jahanum & like someone said earlier--we shouldn't jump to conclusions sxb. Either way, my condolences go out to his family.
