I am a world travelled, multilingual (Arabic,
Somali, Kiswahili, and of course English),
polymath (freelance Muslimah, writer, lecturer,
translator, poet and playwright). I am also
well-versed in Islamic sciences and philosophy
(over a decade and counting of multi-disciplinary
study and research) and try to traverse the path
of awakening!
My closest companion is the Qur'an and my
favourite activities are the remembrance of Allah
and salat.
I love dimples and olives and sunshine and lakes
and ice cold rivers, miss minnesota big time and
pancakes and pastries and jazz and Arabic music
and times when both sun and moon are visible in
the sky and sublime spiritual states and
recitation of the Qur'an and salat ..... and more.
My main passion in life is to live and tell the
story of Islam in word, deed and state with
creativity, imagination and popular appeal. I am
always looking for like-hearted and like-minded
people to join me in this mission. Are there any
people left for whom a dream is the very meaning
of life? Are there any Somalislam out there?
Current Reflections
Islam is first and foremost the story of awakening
and self-discovery.
A Muslim is an environmentalist by definition.
If we allow and trust the light of iman to take
its own course, we will be illuminated and guided
by that light from within our own hearts.
True Islam is always a matter of inspiration and
then perspiration.
The Prophet (s) first taught the first and best
community iman (faith based upon knowledge and
love) and later rules and regulations. Is there
not a sign in this for those who would reflect?
Islam is most effectively cultivated from the
inside out not from the outside in.
Why do we know what the American dream is but we
don't know what the dream of Islam is? Reflect!
Why can we recognise easily 99 logos of our
favourite corporate brands but not the 99 logos
(names) of Allah? Reflect!
