Life Is a Gift
Today before you say an unkind word - Think of someone who can't speak.
Before you complain about the taste of your food - Think of someone who has nothing to eat.
Before you complain about your husband or wife - Think of someone who's crying out to GOD for a companion.
Today before you complain about life - Think of someone who went too early to heaven.
Before you complain about your children - Think of someone who desires children but they're barren.
Before you argue about your dirty house someone didn't clean or sweep - Think of the people who are living in the streets.
Before whining about the distance you drive Think of someone who walks the same distance with their feet.
And when you are tired and complain about your job - Think of the unemployed, the disabled, and those who wish they had your job.
But before you think of pointing the finger or condemning another - Remember that not one of us is without sin and we all answer to one MAKER.
And when depressing thoughts seem to get you down - Put a smile on your face and thank GOD you're alive and still around.

When We Are Shopping
DATE: 03/15/2007 06:36:09 / MOOD: General
Asalamu aleykum warahmatullahi wabarakatu
When we are shopping, some items need more of our attentions than others. For example, the ordinary items that we buy, such as a pack of salt or a box of tissue papers, need little or no attention from us. On the other hand, when we need to buy a matching pant for a dress, we use our best judgments to pick the closest match.
Today, praying has become ordinary to us. As a result, we pay very little attention towards Allah while we pray. We start the prayer saying Allahu Akbar (Allah is the Greatest) and repeat it many times throughout the prayer, however, not even once do we realize the greatness of Allah. It is time that we stop taking prayer as an ongoing ritual. Rather, we should have full concentration towards Allah while praying as we do towards the colours and shapes while buying a matching pant for a dress.

This Ummah is like a Tasbih
DATE: 03/15/2007 06:25:49 / MOOD: General
Asalamu aleykum warahmatullahi wabarakatu
A Tasbih is used to keep count of dhikr. It is usually made up of 100 beads which are held together in a necklace form by a thread. As long as the tasbih remains in its original form, it can be used for doing good deeds. However, what happens if the thread rips? The beads fall all over the place and create a mess. Similar is the example of this ummah. As long as the Muslims remain united together, good results will come out of them. However, as soon as they are divided, they will create a big mess, which is clearly visible in these days.

A 3 Bedroom House
DATE: 03/15/2007 06:22:37 / MOOD: General
Asalamu Aleykum warahmatullahi wabarakatu
To live in a 3 bedroom house in North America, a person has to work atleast 8 hours a day to pay for the rent. Sometimes, that is not enough. Some people without a high paying job have to work 12 hours to 16 hours a day to live in such a house. So much work is required just to live in a tiny little house of this world!
On the other hand, the houses of Jannah (Paradise) are not made of 3 bedrooms. Rather, they are gigantic palaces made of the most precious jewels from the treasures of Allah. In this world, we are spending so much time and energy for the 3 bedroom house, however, what are we doing for attaining Jannah?

An Important Letter
DATE: 03/15/2007 06:16:08 / MOOD: General
Asalamu Aleykum warahmatullah wabarakatu
What happens when you receive an important letter from someone, do you put it away or immediately open it and read it? I believe, all of us would open the letter and read it. If you don't know how to read, you would find someone who could and let him read it out to you. In short, we would take the letter seriously as it contains important information.
On the other hand, how do we treat the Holy Quran, which is an important message from Allah? Our future of this world and the hereafter is in knowing this message. But, do we read the Quran? May be only a few of us. Instead of reading, we cover the Quran with a beautiful cloth and put it away on a high shelf. Would we do the same with the above mentioned important letter? Not at all. So, it's time that we realize the value of the Quran and read it often to know its important message.

Asalamu aleykum
Be thankful that you don't already have everything you desire,If you did, what would there be to look forward to?
Be thankful when you don't know somethingFor it gives you the opportunity to learn.
Be thankful for the difficult times.During those times you grow.
Be thankful for your limitationsBecause they give you opportunities for improvement.
Be thankful for each new challengeBecause it will build your strength and character.
Be thankful for your mistakesThey will teach you valuable lessons.
Be thankful when you're tired and wearyBecause it means you've made a difference.
It is easy to be thankful for the good things.A life of rich fulfillment comes to those who are alsothankful for the setbacks.
GRATITUDE can turn a negative into a positive.Find a way to be thankful for your troubles and theycan become your blessings. Be thankful to Allah.

LAMENT OF THE QURAN
DATE: 02/21/2007 07:06:07 / MOOD: General
Asalamu Aleykum
As an ornament do they adorn me, Yet they keep me and sometimes kiss me. In their celebrations they recite me,In disputes they swear by me, On shelves do they securely keep me Till another celebration or dispute,When they need me.Yes, they read me and memorize me, Yet only an ornament am I..My message lies neglected, My treasure untouched,The field lies bare, where blossomed once true glory.Wrong is the treatment I receive So much to give I, but none is there to perceive.
Funny how $10 looks so big when we take it to masjid and so small when we take it to the store.
Funny how big an hour serving God looks and how small 60 mintues are when spent playing golf, fishing or playing soccer.
Funny how laborious it is to read a juzz in the Quran and howeasy it is to read - 2-300 pages of a best selling novel.
Funny how we believe what newspapers say but question what the Quran says.
Funny how we can't think of anything to say when we pray and don't have any difficulty thinking of things to talk to a friend.
Funny how we need 2-3 weeks to fit an islamic event into our schedule, but can adjust it for a social event at the last moment. Funny isn't it?

Sisters in Islam
DATE: 02/21/2007 06:54:42 / MOOD: General
In the name of Allah, Beneficent, the MercifulAsalaamu alaykum,
No longer shackled by the oppression of miniskirts and see-thru shirts my sisters stand proud.Covered by cloth and more so by conviction submission to Allah, they stand apart from the crowd. The taunts, the jeers, the stares, the leers Never fazing or dissuading them from following the deen.
Real women they be, the epitome of femininity strong, secure, complete human beings. Not slaves to the world of fashion which is always askin' for women to dress in as less as they can.Their hijab is for the sake of Allah in imaan and taqwa they refuse to be objectified by man. Such are my sisters in Islam.
