Why the negative criticisms all the time?
DATE: 03/08/2007 19:57:10 / MOOD: Disapointed
It is strange to see some of the criticisms exchanged btn both sexes..What is more ridiculous is when you see a Somali sis, or bro.. trying to pinpoint the shortcomings of Some of the other gender, and tries to generalize it to that whole gender...Com on..this is not the way, things should be.
If you wanna level a criticism on somebody, you betta be ready to come up with concrete facts when called upon, and stick to those only..a mean don't enclude what is not there..and for the common good, be honest, and respectful.

Good Communication
DATE: 02/23/2007 20:38:02 / MOOD: General
Saxibayaal this time am gonna change gears and share with you a bit about communication. There is well known saying that basically talks about the inavoidability of communication. It goes like this: "You can not not communicate."
It basically means that even when you are not talking to anybody else, you are communicating with the outside world indirectly. In other words, you are giving feedback through non-verbal cues. ie. your face, body, etc. We are able to know whether you are happy, sad, mad, etc.
If communication is inescapable, then what is the best way to communicate with the outside world? Of course, I can't talk about it in detail here, but I will touch on some of the most important things to consider:
Respect: Show respect regardless of who is the recipient of your message, written or oral. That way, you earn the respect of people and because of that you find it easier to communicate, cause there is no hostile reception to whatever you suggest.
Direct Speach: This is very important. never take things for granted. Even things that look easier to you may be harder for others. Keep your language simple and understandable. Always keep your audience in mind and talk about what might be of interest to you. If you want to persuade your audience of something, stablish common ground first and then build on that. If your audience know they have got something in common with you, they are more likely receptive to you.
Keep your topic interesting: Profile your audience. Know where they are from, their level of familarity with what you are talking about, what their interests are. Get them involved.
And many more things. I am not trying to teach anyone how to communicate, nor trying to give advice to anyone. I am simply sharing ideas I thought valuable.
Make our forums more interesting and keep communication simple.
